Responsibilities

The Compliance Associate, joining Hines’ European headquarters in London, will report to the Hines Head of Compliance Europe and Asia, and will be dedicated to a variety of compliance matters of Hines in Europe and Asia, with a focus on Hines Europe Real Estate Investments Limited, an FCA authorised and regulated investment manager. This is a fixed term role of 12 months, intended to start in Jan/Feb 2025. This generalist compliance role will appeal to candidates seeking exposure to a diversity of business challenges such as supporting the compliance program of a UK MiFID firm, conflicts of interest management and horizon-scanning. Appropriate training will be provided.

 

  • To work with the Head of Compliance Europe and Asia to execute the compliance programme for Hines Europe Real Estate Investments, including periodic monitoring activities, preparation of internal compliance reports, risk assessments, maintenance of the compliance manual and associated policies and procedures.
  • To work with Human Resource for onboarding of new hires within regulated regimes and administering the SM&CR procedures for HEREI.
  • To support Hines Compliance Luxembourg on periodic and ad-hoc tasks, like for example ongoing monitoring tasks as well as supporting Hines France with ongoing compliance tasks like reporting and escalation.
  • To support the Head of Compliance Europe and Asia with Compliance tasks across the regions, i.e. liaising with external support services providers when supporting for Hines Dubai, Singapore or Korea offices.
  • To assist the Head of Compliance Europe and Asia with strategic project work e.g. new UK and European regulatory initiatives (DORA), ESG matters, Governance, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

 

  • Approximately 3+ years compliance experience, preferably in UK (FCA) and European Investment Management and Fund Management Regulation (specifically MiFID and AIFMD). Any prior Middle East or Asia compliance exposure a plus, but not essential

  • Strong communication skills including accurate, well-structured report writing.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Good attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently with strong planning and organizational skills enabling a flexible and efficient approach to work.

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant compliance qualification.
