Responsibilities

As the Insurance Risk Manager with Hines, you will be part of a global RM team supporting over 4,900 real estate professionals worldwide. The role will assist the Risk Management team by helping Hines’ operations, development, and investment teams with internal support and expertise in risk and insurance to better navigate their business needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Deliver best in class customer service to internal and external partners
  • Review, obtain and administer various Construction Liability and Builders Risk programs in support of development projects
  • Ensure compliance of 3rd party insurance coverage related to construction projects
  • Administer surety program and administration including invoices, new bond placements and assessing ongoing surety needs
  • Collect, analyze and organize data collection for insurance renewals and stand-alone placements
  • Preparing and reviewing insurance estimates and updating the estimation tool
  • Onboarding of new locations into the operational program including, reviewing program options and gathering required documentation
  • Administer pollution site liability program including location administration, invoices, renewal and endorsement management
  • Manage NFIP program
  • Issue certificates of insurance per the terms of an agreement and review third party certificates against contractual requirements
  • Review and approve insurance requirements for a variety of contracts including but not limited to construction, loans, consultants and service agreements
  • Report claims and forward the proper loss documents, in a timely manner, to insurance carriers in accordance with the terms of the policy
  • Prepares various reports for internal and external distribution
  • Identifies, develops, and uses tools in support of departmental and firm wide goals
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred. High school or equivalent required from an accredited institution
  • Seven or more years work experience in Risk Management or related discipline
  • General knowledge of commercial insurance, safety, and loss control
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills. Ability to establish priorities and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Exercises a strong customer service orientation, sense of urgency, and ability to anticipate internal and external customer needs and acts accordingly
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to demonstrate high performance standards
  • Ability to use good judgment and handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Analyzes and interprets various types of data in order to draw conclusions and solve problems
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel. Smartsheet knowledge is a plus
  • Composes business correspondence using proper format, grammar, diction and style
  • Demonstrate understanding of the fundamental principles of liability and risk management
  • Ability to review and interpret contracts, including insurance and indemnification language
  • Must be self-motivated, demonstrate strong initiative, and follows through to completion on all areas of responsibility
  • Ability to occasionally lift to 10 pound
  • Work indoors approximately 100% of the time
  • Ability to operate a computer, phone system and general office equipment
  • Regular attendance and ability to work overtime as business needs deem appropriate
