Responsibilities

As a Payroll Assistant Manager with Hines, you will be responsible for ensuring accuracy of payroll including payments to employees, tax withholding, and other deduction withholding. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Validate payroll liability payments (taxes, garnishments, and payroll accounting) to minimize variances and ensure proper remittance.
  • Set up new state jurisdictions for withholding, unemployment, and local taxes.
  • Research tax notices and communicate with ADP.
  • Review SUI rates.
  • Oversee payroll process, and accounting reconciliation.
  • Settlement of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls.
  • Create and review Canada semi-monthly, US weekly and bi-weekly payroll wires for funding.
  • Validate payroll tax schedules after weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payroll confirmation.
  • Research/resolve payroll liability variances and other payroll related issues.
  • Audit pay and maintenance input information.
  • Process quarter-end and year-end processing.
  • Serve as backup for Payroll Processor and Manager.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field.
  • Three or more years payroll experience.
  • Three or more years multi state tax experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
  • Workday payroll processing experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions.
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis and integrate analysis of data to discover facts and/or develop knowledge, concepts, or interpretations.
  • Ability to handle pressure, set priorities for workload, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret numerical data.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to interpret responsibilities and possess initiative and willingness to assume additional responsibilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coworkers and maintain a cooperative, productive atmosphere.
  • Ability to edit reports and correspondence for proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Indoors – 100%.
  • Operate personal computer and other office equipment.
  • Work overtime as business needs deem appropriate.
