Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant – SEC Reporting with Hines, you will be responsible for preparing and analyzing SEC filings, financial statements and related disclosures for an international fund. Additionally, you may be required to work with management, legal counsel, auditors or others to in relation to the completion of various SEC filings or reports. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

 

SEC Filings:

  • Prepare reports for filing with the SEC such as Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q,  Annual Reports on Form 10-K, Forms 8-K, Prospectus Supplements, etc.
  • Prepare custom financial reports and detailed analysis for investors, external agencies, and several internal groups within Hines.
  • Review and analyze schedules or other reports used in the preparation of SEC filings.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Reporting team, management, auditors and legal counsel for various filings, disclosures or other reports.

Audits:

  • Understand purpose and procedures of financial statement audits performed by external auditors.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate timely completion of SEC filings. Help address audit issues and involve management when appropriate.

Other:

  • Prepare/review various ad-hoc reports/schedules as necessary.
  • Review and analyze SEC filings of other issuers, as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university.
  • CPA designation (or intention to work toward CPA designation) is preferred
  • Two or more years professional accounting experience.
  • Public accounting experience (or prior SEC Reporting experience) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and application of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Perform numerical and financial calculations.
  • Analyze and interpret various types of data in order to draw conclusions and solve problems.
  • Compose business letters, expositions, summaries, and reports, using proper format, punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
  • Exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions.
  • Work indoors approximately 100% of the time.
  • Ability to lift files, records, and computer paper (approximately 5-35lbs).
  • Work overtime as business needs deem appropriate.
