As a Senior Regional Counsel - SW with Hines, you will report to the Vice President - Head of Legal and be responsible for providing legal support to Hines' Southwest business unit. The Senior Regional Counsel will be the chief individual responsible for negotiating and drafting required legal documentation and advising internal clients with respect to joint ventures, acquisitions/dispositions, project financings, management agreements, leases and other similar real estate and business transactions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Act as lead in negotiating, drafting and closing joint venture, purchase and sale, management agreements, project financing and other transaction agreements with minimal outside counsel support
  • Become a trusted advisor to, and work closely with the Region’s senior leadership and business developers
  • Specialized knowledge as to contract, corporate, joint venture and partnership law and the ability to provide counsel to management and business developers as to acquisition strategy and process and deal structure
  • Provide proactive legal and practical business advice to internal clients, including sound risk assessment regarding transactions
  • Interface with numerous departments and functions within the Company to work effectively and provide a high-level of service to clients and business partners
  • Liaise with outside legal counsel and manage communications/scope of work as needed


Minimum Requirements include:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school; Solid academic credentials from a top tier U.S. law school and strong academic record preferred
  • Ten or more years of transactional real estate experience at a prestigious law firm or combination of prestigious law firm and in-house experience
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas
  • Solid experience leading/managing real estate transactions
  • Experience managing other counsel preferred
  • Highly confident, articulate, self-motivated, self-sufficient and enthusiastic individual who is a team player
