    As a Building Controls Engineer with Hines, you will be responsible for reliability and quality of the Building Management System (BMS) and Building Automation (BAS) of a large corporate campus. You will assist with building daily operations and BMS/BAS quality/standardization initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Accountability for all Building Management System (BMS) and Building Automation System (BAS) operations, changes, and enhancements for the multiple building campus.
    • Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions: requires extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software.
    • Troubleshoot and repair controls hardware, including controllers, relays, measurement devices, actuators, etc.
    • Review quality control of hardware installation and review programming through commissioning process for new construction and retrofits.
    • Contribute to controls systems strategies, design, specifications, programming, simulation, and testing.
    • Develop and initiate standards and methods for processes, control logic and sequences, testing, evaluation, and integration.
    • Oversee all system configurations and component upgrades to ensure system integrity is maintained and that all modifications to existing systems are in compliance with best practices, including change control processes.
    • Provide technical controls training and support to Facility Operations Engineering staff.


    Minimum Requirements include:

    • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technical studies from an accredited institution; Military Technical School from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience also acceptable
    • Five or more years of controls experience in programming development, start up, and commissioning of systems: central plants, air handling units, and evaporative cooling/humidification systems
    • Certifications in various control systems, Alerton experience preferred
    • Knowledge of BAS DDC programming language
    • Strong understanding of BACnet protocol to include IP, ETH and MS/TP
    • Experience in large campus operations or other critical environments
    • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and life safety systems associated with critical environments
    • Experience with common software programming languages is preferred (Python, PHP, SQL)
    • Strong AutoCAD and VISIO experience
    • IT/Networking certification is preferred
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
