Responsibilities

As an HR Specialist with Hines, you will be part of a global HR team supporting 4,400 real estate professionals worldwide, and will directly support, coach, and advise the employees in Hines’ New York City property operations departments. The HR Specialist’s overall goal is to support the delivery of HR programs such as employee onboarding, training, development, and productivity; and support leaders in workforce planning, compensation processes, and implementing organizational changes. The successful candidate will be passionate about helping people be their best at work and will have some experience with implementing best practice HR policies and processes across the employee lifecycle. He/she will also demonstrate the ability to not only react to HR-related needs, but to predict future talent needs and risks, bringing proactive recommendations to business leaders and HR managers. He/she will be a terrific coach to others, a positive role model of the Hines culture to employees and have high integrity when dealing with sensitive situations.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Explaining human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees
  • Informing employees of job duties, responsibilities, benefits, schedules, working conditions, promotion opportunities, etc.
  • Referring employees to Employee Relations to address any employment relations issues, such as Ethics-point complaints and harassment allegations
  • Developing and administering environmental health and safety programs (postings etc.)
  • Maintaining accident records and preparing compliance reports
  • Processing on and off boarding of Hines personnel in client systems
  • Developing and maintaining New Employee Manual
  • Review and approve hires, transfers, and terminations submitted by managers to ensure HR procedures are followed
  • Coordinating job postings, reviewing resumes (as requested/needed by Talent Acquisition), and performing reference checks as needed
  • Coordinating interviews for candidates to include booking conference rooms, assisting with manager availability and greeting candidates for on-site interviews
  • Partnering with Talent Acquisition to coordinate recruiting events and activities
  • Developing and reporting Organizational Charts monthly and provide HC (Headcount) turnover rates on a quarterly basis
  • Learning & Development Administration (Training and Tracking)
  • Administering on-the-job training programs
  • Evaluating and reporting on the effectiveness of training programs/recommend optimization
  • Coordinating with LMS support to maintain records of employee participation in all training and development programs

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field from an accredited institution

  • Two or more years of experience providing Human Resources support in a professional office environment

  • Demonstrate strong initiative and customer service orientation

  • Interact with employees, visitors and vendors with poise and diplomacy

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and written

  • Integration with and facilitation of Company-wide objectives from HR Central

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel
